ABOUT THE
FOUNDER

About Lucas Ferreira, preservation carpenter.

While I enjoy all stages of restoring historic Homes and wooden structures, I specialize in window and door restoration. I’m also passionate about painting, whether it is fine interior painting or exterior. Replicating furniture is also something I have enjoyed doing over the years.

A little more about my background:

I picked up woodworking skills as a teenager while observing and helping my stepfather build furniture.  After graduating from Montclair High School, I attended Essex County college and earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration.

From 2007 – 2013, I worked as Facilities Assistant at Greenwood Garden in Short Hills, New Jersey. It was the beginning of a significant stage in the life of the century-old property as it transitioned from a private estate to a public garden, and during my tenure at Greenwood I was called upon to help restore cottage windows, garage doors, and decorative garden trellises. Working at Greenwood deepened my passion for woodworking, especially preservation and restoration projects – and it motivated me to seek and obtain greater skills as a carpenter.

In 2013 I was accepted into the Preservation Carpentry program of Boston’s prestigious North Bennett Street School and earned my diploma in 2015. NBSS was a wonderful experience where I learned a variety of invaluable techniques. NBSS also introduced me to many other professionals in the restoration world which continue to inspire and advise me to this day.

While attending NBSS, I worked part- time as a painter. I was very privileged to work with great professionals whom have been in the painting business for decades. While learning all of the tricks of the trade, I discovered a hidden passion for this profession.

Although I have been working as a preservation carpenter and painter par-time for over a decade, it was not until 2022, that I established Ferreira’s Restoration LLC. I truly love working to preserve older homes, landmarks, and historically significant buildings. I am currently working with the renowned Barton Ross, AIA, AICP, LEED AP Historic Architect Barton Ross & Partners LLC, an award-winning architecture, planning and historic resources consulting firm Livingston NJ.

My goal as the owner of Ferreira’s Restoration LLC, is to provide my customers with the best experience a contractor will ever be able to provide. Whether I’m working on a restoration project or painting your home my goal is to provide exceptional service, and a work guarantee that will last for many years to come.
